Recognizing Tactical Opportunities
This 90-minute lesson, taught by FIDE-Master Dalton Perrine, is intended for players in the 1000-1400 Elo rating range, who may already be familiar with the most important tactical patterns on a theoretical level, but have trouble consistently applying that knowledge in their own games.
The instructor provides examples of typical tactical opportunities that often occur in games by players in the 1000-1400 Elo rating range. He points out tactical solutions and explains why they work in the given positions. This will enable the students to develop their feeling for when a tactical opportunity may be present. Students will then be given the chance to apply this knowledge in some carefully selected training positions.
